It’s been a minute since I’ve popped in for a little life update. These kind of posts are my favorite to read from other bloggers I follow. I like to get to know people and blogging is just another way I get to make connections and establish new friendships with others. And as much as I love a good DIY post, its fun to get to write about other things in my life that have nothing to do with Chalk Paint or Kreg Jigs.
Our bathroom is almost complete! Like, so close I can smell it. The countertops were installed last weekend and the tile is finished. I can’t wait to show you what this bathroom looked like a few months ago and what it looks like now. As soon as the bathroom is done, we hope to start demo on our BIG remodel sometime late November/Early December. We had big dreams when we moved into our fixer upper. Obviously, we had to put some things on hold in order to stay within our budget. With this remodel, we are going to blow out several walls, gut the kitchen and start fresh, add on a mudroom/laundry room and finish our basement.
Winter Is Coming
The leaves are changing color and it’s a brisk 59 degrees over here in the Pacific Northwest. I’ve decided after my show in November, I will no longer be building any larger furniture pieces until early spring. I made that decision for a couple of reasons. The colder temperature that winter brings will pose greater challenges when it comes to building in my garage. Builds are going to take a lot longer due to the cold weather and my freezing little fingers. And I’m not exactly sure what our daycare situation will be either. Currently the girls go to daycare every Wednesday but that could change with the arrival of our daycare providers new grand baby. We knew this when we signed the girls up in June but we couldn’t be more excited for our provider and her family as they welcome their sweet little babe. If you have already talked to me about some custom furniture builds after my show is over, DON’T WORRY, you aren’t affected by this! I just won’t be taking anymore additional orders (other than the ones I already have) until early spring. If you have questions or want to inquire about some custom decor orders, please email me!——> email@example.com
Ohhhh the rascals. The girls are keeping me busy to say the least. Quinnie is my little buddy and likes to go with me everywhere. To the bathroom, to my office, when I’m making dinner or when I’m folding laundry, she wants to be right there in my lap. It’s exhausting at times but I can’t say I don’t love it. Clara was never much of a snuggler but my little Quinnie loves to snuggle. She will randomly come give me hugs and lay her little head on my chest through out the day. Sometimes she will lean in for a big slobbery wet kiss when I’m least expecting it. She always knows how to tug at my heart strings.
Last week on one of the worst days in American history, when we all woke up and our jaws hit the floor when saw the news about the deadly massacre in Las Vegas, I ended taking Quinn to the doctor that afternoon for what I assumed was Pink Eye. We had to wait for 2 hours before we were seen. We walked all over the clinic while we were waiting, into other waiting rooms and by the reception desks. Quinn waved and smiled and said hello to everyone approximately 100 times in that 2 hours. She waddled up to patients in the waiting room and babbled in her sweetest baby voice, trying so hard to have a conversation with them. Everyone giggled and commented at what a friendly baby she was. She spent that two hours making the people around her smile, laugh and for one minute they forgot what a terrible and sad day it was. On the way home from the Doctor’s Office, I said a prayer and thanked God for my sweet little Quinnie and how much joy she brought with her in the office that day. On a day when we all needed a little spoonful of love and kindness.
Clara is constantly making me laugh! She has such a wild and dominate personality. That wild curly hair fits her so well. In the evenings when Quinn goes to bed, we let Clara cuddle with us in our bed. Sometimes she’ll watch a TV show with us and eat popcorn and other times we will turn the TV off and just have a conversation with her. Its fun to have that one-on-one time with her that we don’t often get to have.
That’s what we’ve been up to! Stay tuned for a carb-free recipe coming later this week!
