French Provincial with Annie Sloan
This was another HUGE Estate Sale score in my book! The best Estate Sale I’ve ever been to and the weird thing was NO ONE was buying anything! I usually go to Estate Sales on the last day because the prices are marked down so I just assumed all the furniture I was interested in was already spoken for. Wrong! Everything was still there! Two complete bedroom sets full of french provincial furniture, mid-century dressers and vanity’s, gorgeous wingback chairs, you name it! I wish I could have bought everything in that house. But I scored this bedroom set (mirror not pictured) for $175! I ended up being hired out to refinish it for a friend of mine and she decided to go with the color, Paris Grey.
I started with the nightstand and instantly fell in love with the soft grey! Good choice, Kim!
After 2 coats of Paris Grey, we decided to add a little pop of color in the grooves of the furniture. Using an artist brush I carefully added in some Annie Sloan Provence along the grooves. Afterwards I went back over the Provence with a white wash so it looked more blended and not so bold.
Using another craft brush, I painted the hardware in Annie Sloan’s Pure White.
With my hand sander and 320 grit sandpaper, I lightly sanded the surface to give it a smooth finish.
I waxed the dresser and mirror (what I did with the nightstands is coming next). If you need help with waxing and want to watch a video, click here.
I’m a HUGE fan of Annie Sloan Wax, however, on high traffic areas I prefer polyurethane. In my experience, the polyurethane holds up slightly better than wax. I’m excited for my friend but so sad to see this set go! It was a fun flip for sure! I’ll always be on the look out for more French Provincials!
